About Me

Hello, everyone!

My name is Ivo and I am 23 year old trans man from Vienna. I started making art about two years ago, and I'm overwhelmed by the amount of positive feedback I've gotten, especially for the lino cuts. Other queer and trans people have told me that my stuff makes them feel proud, and that they belong in this world, and that is all that I can hope for. While I can't say what the future may bring, I do know that I want to continue making queer art that inspires others to live as themselves.

Why the name BoyBurning?

Well, my name, Ivo, means something like ''yew tree'', and that, together with the association ''flaming homosexual'' pretty much sealed the deal. Also, you could say I'm burning for my passion, which is art. I used to think I chose that name bc I've had it rough at times, but I like this interpretation better. Will I change the name as I get older? Maybe. I don't have a problem with people calling me a boy rn, though. I know that I'm a 23 year old man. My aunt also still has her ''girls' night'', and she's one of the most responsible people I know. It's just a figure of speech.

What do I make?

Besides the trans lino cut series (in the colors of our pride flag), I'm also designing new pride stickers, postcards, and I make badges with Dad-joke-level puns.

I also started making my own watercolors, using gum arabic, pigments and a little honey. The sanguine or blood red and the yellow ochre watercolors are especially beautiful if I may say so. But I also do custom sets inspired by people's art/aesthetic.

I hardly have the time for commissions these days, but maybe I'll start doing portrait and sticker commissions again. ☺️
